Fashion Wire Daily - The inside track to the world of fashion is never more than a cable channel away, no matter where you live. Fashion punditry has become a global genre, with its fair share of slouches as well as stars. So to make sure you tune into the top-notch personalities of fashion TV as you jet-set from one collection to the next, here's a list of the best fashion pundits worldwide. Marie Christiane Marek
She's the doyenne of TV fashion hosts, and the woman with the most costume changes on the cathode tube. Though her audience on French cable channel Paris Premiere is minimal - frequently just 50,000- her Paris location gives Marek and her program Paris Modes more clout than any other on fashion television. On top of that, she knows her fashion history - which is why when it comes to getting the first post-show, backstage interview, Marie Christiane always heads up the line.
Junko Ouchi
She's the elegant lady with an Anna Wintour bob and similarly large sunglasses, who sits very still in the front row. An amazing number of people in fashion don't know who she is, but no journalist can open doors - or cash registers - in Japan like Junko. If TV means clout, then Ouchi and her Fashion Tsushin is mega.
Tim Blanks
When it comes to asking designers the most intelligent and probing questions, Blanks, the host of Fashion File, is the master. His repartee and ability to "read" a collection are second to none. As the lead for a show syndicated TV show now seen in 65 countries around the globe in an estimated 550 million homes, Blanks also has reach. And unlike most other TV faces, Blanks is no slouch in print -- he's a regular contributor to international magazines and newspapers including The New York Times, London's Saturday Telegraph, V Magazine and Vogue Japan. He was once described as "the Frank Sinatra of fashion television" but insists this is because of the way he holds his microphone.
Mariella Milani
This witty Roman broadcaster is Italy's most followed pundit, who files daily reports on Italian national TV channel TG2 from the European fashion seasons. Dark haired and diminutive, Milani also has global reach, and even flew all the way to Shanghai last year to cover Gianfranco Ferre's mega Chinese show.
Jeanne Beker
Now that Elsa Klensch has retired, Beker is the most experienced mike holder in style TV punditry. She's the face in front of Canadian production Fashion Television, probably the longest-running style program on the planet. This former mime student (she studied with Marcel Marceau's teacher in Paris) has even found time to write her biography, "Unbottled: Adventures in High Style," and create her own clothing line.
Elisabetta Falciola
The toughest backstage battler in fashion television land, Falciola is the TV star of Mediaset, the giant media conglomerate controlled by Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi. Her snappy 60-second spots for his news programs and Non Solo Moda, the highly watched fashion mag of the Canale Cinque channel.
Vivianne Blassel
Vivianne is the thinking woman's TV pundit, with cerebral interview techniques and a cool French manner. She's the fashion voice of LCI, the French equivalent of CNN, who takes the long view of fashion.
Joe Squillo
No TV pundit has more chutzpah than Italian Joe Squillo, the curvaceous front of camera for TV Moda, the fashion show on Tele Monte Carlo. While editors-in-chief on half-million-dollar salaries set sheepishly on their front-row seats, blonde babe Joe is standing on the catwalks emoting a live full-lipped intro in a slinky dress. Her family name is Italian slang for a phone call, which maybe why Joe's not afraid to yell out her opinion for the whole auditorium to hear.
Robert Verdi
The permanently upbeat, and Brooks Brothers-obsessed Robert Verdi is the liveliest wire on Full Frontal Fashion. As the style critic of New York cable channel Metro, and co-host of Full Frontal Fashion, Verdi has become New York's best-liked TV pundit among designers. With Metro now providing non-stop coverage during fashion week, this has given Verdi a position of prominence. He's also very witty.
Francois Guenet
The gentlemanly commentator from D Music Plus is the most listened-to commentator in French-speaking Canada. He works quickly with a tiny crew and has earned the reputation as the professorial pundit.
